Education & Advocacy
Matt Nightingale’s work in this area has unfolded through invitations rather than programs. Drawing from decades of pastoral ministry, personal experience, and contemplative practice, he enters communities as a conversation partner rather than an expert, helping people name what is real and discern what integrity might look like in their own context.
Matt’s TEDx talk, Choosing Gratitude and Hope, co-presented with his former wife Luanne, shares their story of mixed-orientation marriage and models a way of holding truth, compassion, and mutual respect together. The talk continues to resonate with people who are seeking to reconcile faith, sexuality, and family without erasing complexity.
In addition to invited teaching and speaking, Common Sanctuary engages in ongoing public witness through preaching, writing, podcast conversations, and online storytelling. This work is less about answers and more about presence, reflection, and the slow work of cultural and spiritual change.
From time to time, Common Sanctuary also hosts gatherings such as concerts, teaching series, and special events that invite reflection, connection, and conversation. These offerings emerge organically in response to community interest and partnership, and they vary in form and scope.
